Greenwich Peninsula Description

The Greenwich Peninsula is an ultra modern £8.4 billion project, encompassing residential, public, retail and office spaces along a 2.57km stretch of the River Thames.

A twenty year masterplan, Greenwich Peninsula is inventing itself as a new district; a dynamic community that will be London’s most modern cultural landscape. An additional £500m ($646m) will be invested in public and social infrastructure, including schools, sporting facilities, public spaces and parks.

Aerial View of Greenwich Peninsula

It includes the O2 arena an iconic white dome which houses concerts as well as comedy and sporting events.

The Emirates Air Line cable car which is UK’s only cable car soars across from the River Thames which residents can use to reach the Excel exhibition centre and The Royal Docks.

The Peninsula encompasses a new development above North Greenwich station, designed by international architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava, this will include a Winter Garden, Galleria hotels theatre and retail space. Residents and visitors will arrive from the tube station into a striking green space, an 80 ft high winter garden and glass galleria, flooding the space with natural light and fresh air. Above this will be a series of green terraces. The Galleria will be a promenade of pavement cafes, shops and restaurants, leading to the foot bridge, which links to a new public park on the Thames.

The public spaces and parks include the Peninsula Garden, 1.6 miles (2.57km) of public river frontage, the Central Park, an amphitheatre, the ecology park and the yacht club. The development will also have a new floating garden on the Thames.

Greenwich Peninsula

Greenwich Peninsula Golf Range, situated next to the river Thames, is a short walk from North Greenwich underground, this amazing driving range features 60 bays across two tiers, a mini 18-hole adventure course and a 3,000 square feet American Golf Retail Shop, with all the top brands. The philosophy is inspired by the 1980’s crazy golf courses modernized into a fantastic family entertainment facility known as adventure golf.

The Emirates Aviation Experience located in Greenwich Peninsula overlooking the Thames is the first of its kind globally. It provides visitors with a unique insight into modern commercial aviation and allows visitors to experience Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 flight simulators. It is spread over 300 square meters and two floors and makes use of state of the art technology and life size aircraft models. Participants can practice take-offs and landings skills across multiple popular worldwide destinations.

Greenwich Peninsula Community

The Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park is home to a fascinating array of wildlife, such as frogs, birds and butterflies. It has become established as a bio-diverse urban wetland. The tranquil park is a stunning natural area for people to discover. It is made up of two lakes surrounded by marshland to support a wide range of birds.

Upper Riverside is designed so that every apartment has a river view. The Thames will become part of your life. High-rise architecture is undoubtedly the future of modern cities. Upper Riverside’s architects SOM are world-leaders in this field with projects such as the Burj Khalifa in Dubai and the new World Trade Centre in New York under their belts.

The stunning Clubhouse is entirely built on the River Thames, it is a place to unwind, recharge and enjoy the amazing city views. You can reach the Clubhouse by using the bridge or by boat via its private pontoon. Situated between The O2 and the Thames, the Greenwich Yacht Club has two function rooms which can be hired for all sizes of events. The venue’s flexibility makes it the best place for a diverse range of events including, but not only, seminars, conferences, meetings, team buildings, corporate Christmas parties and private events.
